THE MONUMENTS
The minaret of Koutoubia Mosque, contemporary of the Giralda in Sevilla, dwarfs the city under its majestic height. It was named after the souk el koutoubiyyin, the bazaar of the book-traders, which is nearby. The hall-type mosque has 17 aisles and 112 columns covering a total floor area of 5400 sq.m (58,000 sq. ft) and is thus among the largest of its kind - 25,000 faithful can say their prayers within it.
El Bahia Palace was built as a harem's residence by the notorious Si Ahmed Ben Musa, Grand Vizier to Sultan Moulay el Hassan I. There are several cypress-filled courtyards, and the entire building is filled with smooth arches, carved-cedar ceilings, ceramic-tile lower walls and fountains, tadlak (shiny marbled) finishes, gibs (stucco plasterwork) cornices, and zouak painted ceilings.
SOUKS AND JEMAA EL FNA PLACE
Covering over a square kilometre with their sprawling lanes, the souks enclose a variety of trades and individual sections. Although these can initially appear baffling to the visitor, the layout is in fact relatively simple
The walk continues through the souks to end on the famous Djemaa el Fna square a real court of miracles where gather every day at the end of the afternoon the snake charmers, Gnaoua black dancers descendants of former slaves, musicians storytellers, monkey showers, tooth pullers, water vendors and good adventure tellers.
Small restaurants are located in the square at the end of the day and offer all varieties of Moroccan dishes. The smells of grilled smoke, the sounds of the drums of musicians, the shouts of street vendors make this place a place where all the pleasures meet.
With an impressive length of more than 10 km, the city ramparts are among the main attractions of Marrakech. They are in very good condition, and quite impressive with height between 8 and 10 meter.
The Majorelle Garden designed in the 1920’s by the painter Jacques Majorelle, has been beautifully restored by the former couturier Yves St Laurent.
The Menara was laid out in the 12th century by the Almohads. Around 30,000 olive trees are set around a magnificent water pool. The well-kept pavilion house, the menzeh, was built much later in 1870. The first-floor open balcony offers a wonderful view over the large expanse of water towards the mountains.

A DAY WITH FOUR WHEEL IN THE HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS
After crossing the fertile plain of Haouz planted with olive trees, orange trees and fruit trees, the road reaches the Atlas whose snowy peaks in winter exceed 3000M and sometimes 4000m. Thanks to a remarkable use of the water available in the wadis, terraced cultivation has developed in all the valleys, under the earthen villages hung on the side of the hills. This vegetation has created a striking contrast with the aridity of the surrounding plains and the red ocher color of the earth. Around these villages, the Berbers cultivate their plot of land in a traditional way as in the most remote times.
